Training Data Analytics & Performance Reporting

Systematic approach to training data collection, analysis, and visualization that transforms raw learning metrics into actionable insights for stakeholder decision-making and continuous program improvement.

Developed and maintained internal training analytics and reporting infrastructure to transform raw learning data into actionable insights for stakeholders at every level — from frontline training managers tracking daily completion rates to executives evaluating enterprise-wide training investment. This work spans LMS reporting, survey analysis, rollout tracking, and executive communication, applying systematic data methodology to training operations that serve 600+ personnel across 8 facilities.

Note: Due to the internal nature of this work, specific data, dashboards, and organizational metrics cannot be shared publicly. This project focuses on methodology, approach, and capabilities rather than specific outputs.

Approach

Training data analytics in a complex operational environment requires bridging the gap between raw system data and strategic decisions. The approach centers on three principles:

  • Data where decisions happen — Reports and dashboards designed for the specific decisions each stakeholder needs to make, not generic data dumps
  • Multiple data streams, unified narrative — LMS completion data, survey results, observation scores, and operational metrics synthesized into coherent stories about training effectiveness
  • Continuous over episodic — Ongoing tracking infrastructure rather than one-time analyses, enabling trend identification and early intervention

Dashboard Development

Built Excel-based training dashboards providing real-time visibility into training operations across the enterprise, using advanced spreadsheet techniques to create maintainable, self-updating analytical tools.

Technical Implementation

  • Power Query — Automated data import and transformation pipelines connecting to LMS exports, HR data, and operational records with scheduled refresh capabilities
  • COUNTIFS and conditional aggregation — Multi-criteria counting and summing formulas for slicing completion data by facility, department, role, time period, and training type
  • Pivot tables — Dynamic summary views enabling stakeholders to explore training data across multiple dimensions without requiring technical expertise
  • Cross-sheet formulas — Linked workbook architecture connecting raw data sheets to summary dashboards, detail views, and trend charts through structured cell references
  • Conditional formatting — Visual indicators (RAG status, progress bars, heat maps) for at-a-glance identification of facilities, departments, or individuals requiring attention

Dashboard Types

  • Completion tracking dashboards — Real-time view of training completion rates by facility, department, and individual with drill-down capability
  • Trend analysis views — Week-over-week and month-over-month completion trends identifying acceleration or stagnation patterns
  • At-risk learner identification — Automated flagging of individuals approaching or past completion deadlines with escalation status tracking
  • Manager summary views — Facility-level rollups designed for training managers to monitor their teams without information overload

Survey Analysis & Change Management

Designed and analyzed training-related surveys mapped to the ADKAR change management framework, connecting learner feedback to organizational readiness indicators.

  • ADKAR-mapped survey design — Survey instruments structured around Awareness, Desire, Knowledge, Ability, and Reinforcement dimensions to measure change readiness alongside training effectiveness
  • Quantitative analysis — Statistical summary of Likert-scale responses, completion rates, and demographic breakdowns across survey populations
  • Qualitative coding — Systematic categorization of open-ended responses to identify recurring themes, concerns, and suggestions
  • Trend monitoring — Longitudinal survey analysis tracking shifts in learner sentiment and organizational readiness across multiple survey administrations
  • Actionable recommendations — Translation of survey findings into specific, prioritized actions for training program adjustments and change management interventions

Multi-Site Rollout Tracking

Built comprehensive tracking infrastructure for the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) training rollout across 8 geographically dispersed facilities, providing visibility into a complex, phased implementation.

  • Facility-level progress tracking — Individual completion dashboards for each of 8 facilities with rollup to enterprise-wide summary views
  • Phase management — Tracking across multiple training phases (pre-launch, classroom, hands-on, post-go-live support) with phase-specific metrics
  • 600+ personnel tracking — Individual learner progress across multiple required training modules with automated status updates
  • Variance analysis — Identification of facilities progressing ahead of or behind schedule with root cause investigation triggers
  • Stakeholder reporting — Weekly and milestone-based progress reports tailored for operations leadership, project management, and executive oversight

LMS Reporting & Analysis

Leveraged LMS built-in reporting capabilities and custom report development to extract, analyze, and distribute training data supporting operational decisions.

  • Standard report configuration — Configured and scheduled recurring LMS reports for completion tracking, enrollment status, and assessment performance
  • Custom report development — Built specialized reports combining multiple data points for cross-functional analysis not available through standard report templates
  • Assessment analysis — Score distribution analysis identifying knowledge gaps, question-level difficulty patterns, and assessment reliability indicators
  • Completion rate analysis — Trend identification across training programs, departments, and time periods with statistical summary and visualization
  • Data export and integration — Established standardized data export processes feeding into external dashboard and analytics tools

Executive Communication

Produced executive-level summary communications that distill complex training data into clear, actionable narratives for senior leadership decision-making.

  • One-pager summaries — Concise, single-page executive briefs combining key metrics, trend indicators, and strategic recommendations for training program performance
  • Visual data storytelling — Charts, graphs, and infographics designed for quick comprehension by time-constrained executive audiences
  • Recommendation framing — Data-backed recommendations presented with business impact context, resource implications, and priority ranking
  • Stakeholder-specific views — Tailored reporting formats for different executive audiences (operations VP, HR leadership, project sponsors) emphasizing metrics most relevant to their decision authority
